Developing countries need trees more than ever. That’s why we’re planting a tree for every new follower this World Earth Day.

In these strange times, there’s not much we can be certain of. But one thing we know for sure is that we need trees more than ever.

Why? When times are hard it’s our planet that also suffers. Businesses have cut their environmental budgets as companies tighten their purse strings and try to navigate these turbulent times. This means that businesses are reducing their financial support of tree planting partners and reforestation projects.

In the communities where these trees are planted, especially Nepal, Ethiopia and Madagascar, these are often the greatest affected during pandemics. While the world has stopped, these communities are struggling. Here, vital industries are closed, unemployment has increased and people have been left vulnerable. Yet, tree-planting organisations within these areas often give a vital lifeline to those who live there. Here, trees bring amazing social benefits to communities, such as healthcare, education and ultimately helping to alleviate societies from mass poverty.

This Earth Day we’re committed to continuing the fight for our planet, and for the people who call it home. That’s why we’re celebrating Earth Day by planting a tree for every follower on our Instagram page today.
